Pick out a new opener — (863) 238-0866An Opener Is Only as Good as Its Install
A new opener on a badly balanced door will wear out early and may not reverse reliably. Before anything goes up, we check the springs, cables and tracks so the opener is guiding the door, not hauling it.
We install belt-drive units for quiet operation near living space, chain-drive for straightforward durability, and wall-mount jackshaft openers where ceiling room is tight or high-lift track is used. Battery backup is worth considering in an area where storms knock out power. Every install includes new photo-eye sensors, wall control, programmed remotes and adjusted travel limits.
Signs It's Time for a New Opener
No photo-eye sensors
Openers made before the early 1990s often lack the photo-eye safety system now required. Those units are due for replacement regardless of how well they run.
Loud, slow or unreliable
An old chain unit that rattles the house, crawls along or needs several button presses is usually costing more in repairs than it's worth.
Repeated board or gear failures
When the same opener needs parts year after year, or parts are no longer made, a new unit is the practical fix.
How an Opener Install Goes
The goal is an opener that is quiet, secure and correctly matched to the door.
- 1
Pick the right unit
Motor size and drive type are chosen around how heavy the door is, how much headroom there is, and whether a bedroom sits over the garage.
- 2
Mount it solidly
The header bracket and hangers go into solid framing, the rail is aligned with the door's center, and old hardware is removed.
- 3
Program and prove it
Remotes, keypad and any app connection are set up, limits and force adjusted, and auto-reverse tested with an object in the doorway.
Opener Installation Questions
- Belt, chain or wall-mount?
- Belt drives are the quietest and suit garages under or beside bedrooms. Chain drives are louder but simple and tough, which works well for detached garages. Wall-mount jackshaft units clear the ceiling and suit high-lift or tight-headroom setups, though they need the right door and track configuration.
- Is battery backup worth it?
- Around here, often yes. Summer storms and hurricane season bring outages, and a door that won't open can leave a car stuck inside. A battery backup keeps the opener working for a limited number of cycles while the power is out, which is usually enough to get the car out and close up again.
- Can you connect the opener to my phone?
- Many current openers include built-in Wi-Fi, and others can take an add-on module. Once connected, you can check whether the door is open, close it remotely and get alerts. We set up the connection during the install and make sure the safety features still work as intended.
Replace the Old Opener Properly
A well-matched opener on a balanced door is quieter, safer and lasts longer than one bolted up in a hurry.
